MinnCan Project

The MinnCan Pipeline Project is a 300-mile-long, 24-inch pipeline for crude oil from Canada, that will run through Eureka Township. The most recent map of the pipeline route (as of January 5, 2007) through Dakota County is available online.

May 2006: Eureka Town Board passed a resolution regarding the pipeline, asking that the pipeline be rerouted around the township or be routed in such a way as to reduce impacts on landowners.

November 2006: Administrative law judge Beverly Heydinger issued her ruling in support of the pipeline.

February 2007: Minnesota Public Utilities Commission voted 4-0 to approve the pipeline proposal (Certificate of Need and Routing Permit), and issued an order to this effect. News stories about the approval can be found on the following websites:

April 2007: In compliance with the PUC order, Minnesota Pipeline Company sent landowners within the 300-foot corridor a certified mailing with information about the PUC orders, pipeline route, and mitigation plans. (If you are within the original 300-foot corridor and did not receive a mailing, contact Brett Eckness at 651-201-2236; a copy is also available for review at the town hall.)

June 2007: Minnesota Public Utilities Commission rejects “reconsideration petitions” from Minnesota Pipeline Company and other parties challenging some portions of the PUC Routing Permit order.
