The Eureka Planning Commission is a citizen advisory committee appointed by the Town Board that assists the Town Board on matters related to planning and development. The duties of the commission include:

  • establishing principles and policies to guide action affecting development in the township
  • maintaining information on past, current, and future development trends in the township
  • maintaining a current comprehensive plan
  • preparing and recommending to the Town Board ordinances, regulations, and other proposals that promote orderly development consistent with the comprehensive plan
  • determining whether development proposals conform to the principles and requirements of the comprehensive plan and township ordinances
  • keeping the Town Board and the general public informed and advised on planning and development matters in the township


The Planning Commission will hold its regular meeting at 7:00 pm on the first Tuesday of every month at the Eureka Town Hall (unless Tuesday is a state holiday, in which case meetings will be held the first Monday). For the next scheduled meeting, consult the township calendar.

For a permit request to be considered at the next Planning Commission meeting, you must submit a complete application to the Eureka Town Clerk by 12:00 noon on the Thursday ten (10) days prior to the meeting. Applications received after this time will not be acted on until the following month’s meeting

Planning Commission members are paid quarterly based on the following pay schedule:

  • Pay per Meeting- Chair: $70.00
  • Pay per Meeting- Other Commissioners: $60.00
  • Special Meetings: $60.00
  • Liaison to Town Board: $50.00
  • Site Inspections: $25.00
  • Mileage: Standard federal (IRS) rate
