Welcome to Eureka Township!

Eureka is a small rural community of 1500 residents in the southwestern corner of Dakota County, Minnesota, south of Minneapolis–St. Paul. The area was first settled in 1854, and Eureka was officially organized as a township by the Dakota County board of Commissioners in 1858, the year Minnesota became a state.

Dakota County has added the CAPX2020 EIS routes to its online web application – Note: this application applies to Dakota County and does not cover the Scott County .

The Draft EIS for the CAPX2020 Brookings to Hampton 345kV transmission line was made available to the public on October 20, 2009. The Draft EIS discusses the potential human and environmental impacts of the proposed project and evaluates 26 route alignment alternatives (12 route alignment alternatives in Dakota County ).

Basic Instructions: We have added a theme under the “Themes” dropdown tab called “CAPX2020” (located at the bottom of the screen) The CAPX2020 theme contains the alternate routes identified in the draft EIS and some common features for review (wetlands, streams, roads, etc.). If you would like to turn on/off other layers this can be done through the layers tab at the top of the screen. With the zooming and pan function you can follow each of the proposed routes at virtually any scale. Some layers are scale dependent, thus will only display at intended scales.
